About the Artist

Rebecca Justice-Schaab has been a visual artist for over 35 years.  Black & white drawing was her only artistic interest in her youth and young adult years.  This early period however, provided a deep understanding of values, line & shapes and became a solid foundation for the exploration of color later on.

Rebecca is an oil painter in the impressionistic genre and color is her passion.  "Of course I am passionate about other elements as well, such as edges, shapes and line.  Unifying a painting with these things in mind makes for a lasting impression.  My ultimate goal is to produce a painting that rivals the one before it.  Like everything else in life, it's a slow process. Keeping the viewer in mind as I paint holds me to a certain standard.  The experience is fulfilling, demanding and exhausting.  I offer a temporary respite, a sense of well-being or peace, and now & then a bit of humor to those who view my paintings."

Rebecca and husband Tom live in northern Indiana on 20 acres of bountiful fields and lush woods.  Since moving to this rural wonderland, landscape themes have become a more prominent choice of subject matter among her love of painting the figure and the still life.  Painting abstracts are also an attractive choice for Rebecca when the need for a release, exploration, or a new perspective is desired.
